Storm In A Box: Oh Comely's First Subscription Box

words Rosanna Durham

3rd June 2015

Oh Comely's first subscription box was delivered just last week. For everyone curious about what was inside, we couldn't resist unboxing one just for you!

Called 'Storm In A Box', it contained five carefully-curated objects, each based around a different aspect of a storm. Read on for the full details. And head to this page to subscribe to the next Oh Comely Box. Just like the magazine, it's sent every two months and set to be another creative, curious adventure. #ohcomelybox.

One: Wind. The first item, below, was an illustrated notebook by Owen Gent who is issue 25's guest illustrator. It's a place for you to get swept up in the joy of a good doodle, and was inspired by the tale of Odysseus and the four winds.

Two: Rain. Next up was this spectacular hand-dyed silk scarf by textile artist Justyna Michalowska, made using Dylon dye in stormy shades of blue and grey. It recalls cloudy skys and the silvery rain that falls from it.

Three: Shelter. A brass necklace by jeweller Saadiqah Rahman, who was interviewed and photographed for Oh Comely issue 25 about her work. A simple, timeless, shape is it an archway or perhaps a wishbone?

Four: Home. Say hello to yours truly; a copy of the latest issue Oh Comely, complete with interviews with the makers and designers behind Storm In A Box. Now you're home and dry, it's time to curl up with a good read.

Five: Sleep. And finally, we presented the cutest bottle of ethically-sourced British drizzle you ever did see. Something to keep under your pillow. ohcomely.co.uk/subscribe #ohcomelybox
